Monrovia, Liberia - The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has voted to confirm Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan as Minister of Finance & Development Planning.
The
vote was taken on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the ongoing special session of the Senate.
A total of twenty-six (26) senators voted in favor, and three were distant from the voting.
Before the confirmation vote was taken, the Ways, Means, and Finance & Budget Committee of the Senate recommended that, in view of the mandate of the Finance & Development Planning Minister, the Senate wants Hon. Ngafuan to manage the economy in ways that maximize output, foster sustainable development, and subsequently improve livelihood.
He was confirmed as Finance Minister and later as Minister of Foreign Affairs or Dean of the Cabinet during the reign of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and now as Minister of Finance & Development Planning under the Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration.
It can be recalled that Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan told Senators recently at his confirmation hearing that he will ensure resources are aligned with the new ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) through effective management of the national budget.
Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan returns to the Ministry of Finance and Development with wealth of experience, having served recently as the African Development Bank Country Manager for the East African nation of Uganda. He replaces Hon. Boima S. Kamara, who resigned in July 2024.
