Commissioning

Monrovia, Liberia - President Joseph Nyumah Boakai on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 commissioned several officials of government. Amongst those commissioned were five officials of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning. The Finance Ministry officials commissioned at the ceremony were: Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Hon. Anthony Myers; Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning, Hon. Tanneh Brunson;  Deputy Minister for Economic Management, Hon. Dehpue Zuo;  Deputy Minister for Administration, Hon. Bill McGill Jones and the Comptroller and Accounting General.  Hon. Elwood Nettey.

In his charge to the commissioned officials, President Boakai was clear on the objectives of his government urging all of them to work diligently in achieving the ‘ARREST’ agenda.

The President highlighted fiscal transparency and accountability as key ingredients in the rebuilding of the nation.

In response, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Hon. Anthony Myers recommitted to the President that the current team at the Finance Ministry will work to adequately implement the agenda of the current government.

Hon. Myers believes the mantra of “think Liberia, love Liberia and build Liberia” should be shown in the lives of the people through the national budget and other financial instruments.

By thinking, loving and building Liberia, he said, the trust of the Liberian people will be upheld.

The Deputy Minister in a brief statement emphasized that Liberians are generally hopeful that appointed officials will lead by example.

“Liberians are counting and interested in things that we do in our respective offices to drive a productive result for growth and development”, he said.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Oldest Congo Town, Monrovia.
