Monrovia, Liberia - Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the working conditions of civil servants nationwide.

Speaking Tuesday as the Keynote Speaker at the induction ceremony of Officers-Elect of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Workers Association (MOFAWA), Minister Ngafuan emphasized that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai remains deeply appreciative of the dedication and service of government workers and continues to prioritize their welfare.

“This year, the government made salary top-ups for more than 28,000 civil servants in the health, education, police, and judiciary sectors,” Minister Ngafuan stated. “This is a clear demonstration of President Boakai’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of civil servants.”

He boasted that the working conditions at most entities have improved then it was before the administration came to power, a signal of better days ahead.

He noted that the President is “impatient with delays” and is determined to accelerate national development efforts, including improvements in road connectivity, electricity access, education, and water supply.

Minister Ngafuan wants Liberians to unite for development, noting that “Politicians win during election year, but the people are the ones to win every other year”.

Addressing the newly inducted MOFAWA leadership, Minister Ngafuan — a former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet — urged them to serve as “double ambassadors” by representing their colleagues with honor and acting as a bridge between the workforce and management.

In closing, Minister Ngafuan commended the entire staff of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for their pivotal role in working with Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti to secure Liberia’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council — a milestone achievement for the nation.

He labeled Minister Nyanti as an “excellent addition to the cabinet of President Boakai”.

In special remarks, Foreign Affairs Minister Nyanti termed the election and induction of the staff leadership as a demonstration of democracy.
She praised staff of the Ministry for their commitment to duties.

Those inducted to the MOFAWA’s leadership include: Mr. Samuel Saah Borbor, Sr.- President, Mr. Oddyessus Gwoleh Brown- Vice President, Mrs. Elvera M.F. Tarr-Secretary General, amongst others.
