Monrovia, Liberia - Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) Minister, Hon. Boima S. Kamara, has apologized to the Plenary of the House of Representatives for what the House described as his persistent refusal to respond to their invitations.
Appearing before the House of Representatives Plenary on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Minister Kamara expressed his deep regret for not previously attending their sessions, explaining that his absence was due to poor health.
Minister Kamara claimed that he had left the country to seek medical treatment in Ghana during the time of the invitation. Minister Kamara stated that he only returned after a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived in Monrovia for an assessment mission on the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).
The MFDP Boss concluded that he has never shown disrespect to any level of government throughout his years of public service and sincerely beg the House for their pardon.
In response, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, told Minister Kamara that all lawmakers take the health of government officials seriously but advised Kamara to inform the House about future health issues.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives unanimously voted to unconditionally pardon Finance and Development Planning Minister Boima S. Kamara considering the health of an individual as a delicate subject.
