Monrovia, Liberia - Liberia's Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan departs Liberia for Washington DC this weekend as head of government delegation at the upcoming annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which will be held from 21- 26 October 2024
The high-powered delegation, that includes the Acting Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, is expected to hold series of multilateral and bilateral discussions aimed at consolidating partners confidence and accelerating support to Liberia’s Development Agenda, the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
While in Washington, Finance Minister Ngafuan will hold separate meetings with World Bank Vice President Ousman Diagani, Acting US Assistant Secretary at State Department, Economic Bureau Amy Holman, the IMF Director for the Africa Region, Adebe Selassie, and the Director of the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department, amongst others.
Hon. Ngafuan will Chair the African Group 1 Constituency meeting of the World Bank. The Group 1 Constituency constituency comprises 22 African member countries of the World Bank.
Minister Ngafuan will also attend the Liberia Energy Deep Dive aimed at discussing and scaling up support to the Liberian energy sector.
An MFDP press release quotes Minister Ngafuan as saying, "We are going to tell the story of Liberia current economy outlook and get support for future programs he added. "
“Our immediate priorities are to get support from partners and source funding to finance the budget that is aligned with the ARREST Agenda that will immediately impact citizens' lives”.
