National Defense College visits MFDP on a Study Tour

Monrovia, Liberia - A visiting delegation from the National Defense College, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, held a day-long meeting, with the senior management team at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

The delegation headed by Brigadier General Aneidi Effiong Edet, Director, Coordination, comprised 40 members from the Academic staff, Directing staff, and participants of the National Defense College, including most senior military officers of the ranks of colonels.
The meeting was held under the theme “Industrial Revolutions”.

Welcoming the delegation was Deputy Minister of Budget and Development, Planning Hon. Tanneh G. Brunson, who represented Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah Jr.

Hon. Brunson expressed delight with the level of commitment and long-standing relationship between the Government of Liberia, and the Republic of Nigeria, through development and support over the years.

Hon. Brunson termed the occasion as a great privilege for Liberia to be selected among other African countries, for such a study tour.
The presence of the NDC, she says will give them a clear understanding of challenges and an experience that they will take back home.
For his part the head of the delegation, General Hon. Aniedi Edet, applauded the Government and people of Liberia especially the minister and senior technicians of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for the level of commitment in working together to achieve one goal.
Gen. Edet explained that the tour is part of the regional study of African countries. The National Defense College of Nigeria is a primary strategic military institution that borders on security and national defense issues.

Gen. Edet stated that while in Liberia, they will evaluate participants across other sectors on how the geographical, economic, and social factors in their environment impact national development and security; not just in their country but other countries as they cover issues, not just military, but borders on national development issues.

“We have trained many participants from other countries including Liberia. Presently we have one Liberian who is currently on another visiting tour called J.S. Willie”.

During the tour, participants will be given the opportunity to establish links between countries' interactions in the international systems and issues that affect other countries.

The one-day meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning, Assistant Minister, senior staff, and delegations of the national defense college.
