APRM Liberia’s Country Program National Sensitization and Outreach Campaign Takes Central Liberia by Storm

SAM 1769Kakata City, Margibi County - Central Liberia was the scene of celebration by jubilant crowd as citizens and residents witness and participated in the APRM National Sensitization and Outreach Campaign Launch in that county.

The event held at the Administrative Building was characterized by a parade through the principal streets of kakata City, followed by an indoor program and a Press Conference. Participants and Stakeholders included, Students, Youth & Women groups, Tradictional leaders, chiefs & elders, Civil Societ Organizations, the Media, the Business community and Private Sector, Drivers, Motorcycle and Trade Unions, Local and Communty-based NGOs,persons with disability and other Community structures.

As Liberia progress in activities leading to its Review in June 2017, the National Focal Point, Hon. Boima S. Kamara, Minister of Finance & Development Planning – the sector Ministry that manages the APRM Program, Mr. Emmanual B. David, Chairman of the National Governing Council (NGC) and Mr. Dax Patterson Sua, Executive Director, APRM National Secretariat offically launched the sensitization campaign in the county and emphasized the importance of the Campaign as a process aimed at educating citizens about the APRM as “Africa’s Self-assessment for good governance and the need for citizens to participate and be supportive of the APRM at continental, regional, sub-regional and national levels. The APRM official empahsized that the mechnansim is an African initiative that should be owned and supported by all Africans as Africa’s flag-ship for good governance.

Liberia’s APRM National Sensitization and Outreach Campaign was official Launch on October 19 & 20, 2016 by Officials of the APR Continental Secretariat alongside APRM Comunications and Technical Research Institutes (TRI’s) sponsored by United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The Sensitization and Outreach Campaign will be rolled out in all of Liberia’s 15 Counties and is being done in phases; the first phase has targeted five counties and their capitals, they include; Kakata City, Margibi County, Gbarnga City, Bong County, Ganta City, Nimba County, Buchanna City, Grand Bassa County and Cestos City, Rivercess County.

In January 2017, the Campaign will be extended to Eastern, Western and Northern Liberia. APRM National Sensitization and Outreach Campaign is the center of attraction and the focus of discussion in all quarters of the counties where the campaign is currently been launched.
