Monrovia, Liberia - We have come to reaffirm our commitment to do more, says Finance and Development Planning Minister, Hon. Samuel D. Teah Jr. at the two days’ portfolio review between the Government of Liberia and the World Bank.
He made the disclosure during the opening session at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial complex, the oldest Congo town. According to him, the government is determined to turn a robust roadmap going forward to resolve some bottle neck surrounding disbursement of funds for development purposes.

‘’ The Government is determined to turn a robust roadmap going forward to resolve some bottle neck surrounding disbursement of funds for development purposes’’ he added.

However, we want to see a clear road map, beginning today where both technical teams from Ministries, Agencies and the World Bank can review the entire portfolio package towards development and growth across the country.

He thank the Bank for the level of support provided over the years and the commitment shown in supporting the national Development Agenda, the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

We also want to see the champions who will delicate themselves by turning projects into solution projects, moving from problem to solution. Let us identify the champions in the government and the Bank by working together.

For his part, the World Bank Country Manager Dr. Khwima Nthara who spoke for the Bank said last fiscal year, the Government was able to manage and exceed the target that is normally set for the year in terms of disbursement.

According to him, the set target is normally twenty percent of bank balances and the government had twenty-three percent as a big achievement. We are hoping to discuss challenges surrounding disbursement, what are the bottlenecks and how can we work together as a team from the Government size and the Work Bank.

He thanked the Government, especially the Economic Management Department at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for organizing a fruitful review and looking forward to the result.

Also speaking was Deputy Minister for Economic Management, Hon Augustus J. Flomo said the two days’ review will; help both parties reflect better, focus on the wins but equally focus on strengthening the gaps as we look into the future.
