Monrovia, Liberia - Finance and Development Planning Minister, Hon. Samuel D. Tweah Jr., says the involvement of the private sector is keen in the socio-economic development of Liberia, under the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.

Speaking on Tuesday, December 18, at a one-day Business Climate Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Bella Casa Hotel in Monrovia, Minister Tweah asserted that the involvement of the private sector will help the Liberian Government to achieve its Pro-Poor Agenda.

He stressed the need for robust collaborative efforts of both the private sector and government, working in a relationship to strengthen the business climate in Liberia, and how can it improve, in terms of revenue boost and job creation.

Making remarks, the World Bank Country Manager, Larisa Leshchenko, applaud the new leadership under the administration of President George M. Weah for taking the initiative of establishing the business climate forum and pledged the full support and commitment of the World Bank Country office, through a working relationship with the private sector to make it grow.

“Besides the World Bank, we will continue to support the Liberian Government in its development drive with specific emphasis in the energy sector’’ she added.

At the close of the forum, participants from across all sectors of the economy stressed the need to identify some binding constraints, challenges and advance recommendations for doing business in Liberia and how measures can be taken to address some of these concerns in order to drive and improve revenue collection.

The forum brought together the President of the Liberia Business Association, Business Climate Working Group consultants, members of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Liberia Business Association and many others.
