Mobrovia, Liberia - Let’s remain open and supportive to the United State Agencies for International Development (USAID) Lead Project in order to align with the ARREST agenda of President Boakai, says Finance and Development Planning Minister.
 
Hon. Kamara made the disclosure on Monday, March 18, 2024, when the team lead and delegates of the project paid a courtesy call at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
 
Acording to Hon. Kamara, both teams should focus on helping to raise not only resources domestically in terms of revenue but also the context in which we are more transparent in executing public financial management.
 
However, let us look forward for what the LEAD Project brings to strengthen our own public financial management conduct’’ He asserted.
 
For his Part, the Chief of Party of USAID- LEAD Project, Hon. George Akl, reemphasis the full commitment and collaboration for more local empowerment for accountability and decentralization activity in Liberia to address the need of the people.
 
"We are here to introduce and discuss the projects objectives and to present the recent concluded fiscal transparency and public participation technical assessment report ‘’ he explains.
 
He noted that there are three major components of the project which include Domestic Resource Mobilization, Fiscal Transparency, and Decentralization Agenda of the project.
 
Currently the LEAD activity is in full support of the Government through the provision of technical assistance in partnership with the International Budget Partnership’s (IBP) global transparency (GIFT) Program.
 
He further stress that the USAID LEAD Activity, GIFT and the Ministry of finance and development planning team are co- organizing a set-in person meetings and workshops that will run from March 18 -22, 2024 in Monrovia.
 
During the training and action planning workshop, both teams will focus on designing and implementing impactful public participation mechanisms that will be held with key stakeholder towards updating Liberia’s Fiscal Openness Accelerator (FoA) action plan.
 
The courtesy call was attended by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Boima S. Kamara, various project team Lead, Hon. George Akl, Mr. Benedict Harleyson, Mr. Perry Sackor, Respective USAID Representative, GIFT team and senior management team of MFDP.
