The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning with support from UNDP has launched a National Implementation Toolkit in Monrovia. The Quick guide Toolkit provides simple steps on the national implementation business processes for use by implementing partners involved in UNDP funded programmes and projects.
It also seeks to enhance aid effectiveness, promote use of country system and strengthen capacities of national institutions for results.
During the Launch, Deputy Finance Minister for Budget Tanneh Brunson lauded the efforts of the UNDP and Ministry of Finance Team in helping to improve and maximize efficiency of procurement, finance and human resource staff across national institutions. “This process presents a milestone in taking ownership of development efforts in our country” Minister Brunson said. She stressed that the use of country systems made simple, is a key pillar in “Delivering as One” emphasizing partnership.
Also making remarks UNDP Country Director, Dr. Kamil Kamaluddeen described the Initiative as a major step forward in ensuring that information is shared quickly when questions arise in the processes being used to implement programmatic activities. “This is part of a collective partnership which seeks to promote integrity and accountability” Dr. Kamaluddeen intimated.
