Monrovia, Liberia - The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has announced the appointment of Deputy Finance and Development Planning Minister for Administration, Bill McGill Jones, to the Lone Star Men Football Team Mobilization and Fundraising Committee.
In an official letter of appointment, the LFA expressed its gratitude and enthusiasm for Minister McGill Jones's inclusion. The association highlighted that this appointment reflects his steadfast commitment to the development of football in Liberia and aims to enhance collaboration within the sport.
Minister McGill Jones's inclusion on the committee is expected to leverage his influence and expertise to attract essential resources for the Lone Star team.
The LFA believes that his role will significantly contribute to the growth and success of football in the nation. Minister Jones previously served as Secretary General of the Lone Star Men Football Team Mobilization and Fundraising Committee under the leadership of Senators Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Sr., and Geraldline Doe-Sheriff (deceased) between 2015/2016.
Minister McGill Jones is joined on the Lone Star Mobilization and Fundraising Committee by the Assistant Minister for Budget, Hon. Sarah McGill Mulbah; Hon. Dede Sandiman, the Assistant Minister for Expenditure; and Mr. Habib Sheriff, the Director of Financial Regulations, all from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP). They are part of a group of 45 permanent members.
This latest appointment refutes a recent assertion by Spoon Talk that McGill Jones, the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, has been involved in misappropriation of funds related to Liberian football.
