Tubmanburg, Bomi County –  Civil servants across Liberia's western region have received a major boost following the official dedication of the refurbished Civil Service Agency (CSA) Regional Service Center in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, by Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan.

Originally constructed in 2011 during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the facility was established to provide essential civil service and personnel management services to government employees in Bomi, Gbarpolu, and Grand Cape Mount Counties. However, the center later fell into disrepair and became largely nonfunctional.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony on Thursday, Minister Ngafuan described the rehabilitation of the facility as a significant milestone in the Government of Liberia's efforts to decentralize public service delivery and strengthen government institutions outside Monrovia.

"I want to thank Dr. Joekai and his team for the great work. This place was lying in ruins, but we are pleased that his leadership is pushing us to do the right thing and restore vital government services to our people," Minister Ngafuan said.

The Minister explained that the center will provide a range of critical services, including administrative support, personnel management, training opportunities, and capacity-building programs for civil servants throughout the western region.

According to him, the renovation reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that public servants in rural Liberia have equal access to the resources, support systems, and professional development opportunities needed to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.

Minister Ngafuan emphasized that bringing essential civil service functions closer to government employees in the counties will improve efficiency, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and enhance workforce productivity.

"A strong, professional, and motivated civil service remains critical to the successful implementation of government programs and the achievement of our national development goals," he stated.

The Finance Minister also addressed concerns raised by volunteers serving in various government sectors across the region, assuring them that the government is actively exploring avenues to improve their welfare.

"The issues of our volunteers in various sectors of government are receiving attention. With this center now operational, we will work closely with the Civil Service Agency to address many of these concerns, including opportunities for placement on the government payroll," Minister Ngafuan assured.

For his part, Civil Service Agency Director-General Dr. Josiah F. Joekai commended the Government of Liberia, particularly Minister Ngafuan, for supporting the timely renovation of the facility.

Dr. Joekai described the refurbished center as a testament to the government's commitment to expanding access to public services and professional support for civil servants throughout the country.

"The reopening of this regional center demonstrates our determination to bring government services closer to the people and ensure that civil servants across Liberia receive the support they need," Dr. Joekai said.

He further disclosed that the Civil Service Agency is working to operationalize and strengthen regional centers in several counties, including Bong, Grand Bassa, and Grand Gedeh, as part of the government's broader decentralization agenda.

The refurbished Tubmanburg Regional Service Center is expected to significantly improve service delivery and enhance human resource management for thousands of civil servants residing and working in Liberia's western region.
