Deputy Minister Flomo Attends AfDB Board Meeting; Holds Talks with Bank’s President

Abidjan, Ivory Coast. - Deputy Minister for Economic Management and Alternate Governor at the African Development Bank, Hon. Augustus J. Flomo attended Monday, February 25, the Bank’s West African Region Board Meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Governors representing the African Development Bank West Africa Region had gathered to hold consultative meetings with the institution’s President and senior management in Abidjan to take stock of the Bank’s accelerated engagement in the region.

After attending the Board’s meeting, Hon. Flomo held closed door discussions with the Bank’s President Akinwumi Adesuni and members of his senior management team on projects that the bank could sponsor to enhance Liberia’s economic development efforts in line with the country’s Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.

Among the possible areas of projects support Hon. Flomo discussed with the Bank’s President are: infrastructure projects including roads and electricity, youth employment and support to TVET program that focuses on providing skills development for mainly the country’s youth, as well as support to MSMEs to serve as a catalyst for private sector-led growth.

Moreover, the discussions looked at the Bank’s support to commercial rice farming tied to the Staple Crop Processing Zone - linked to the Special Economic Zone.
