The Comptroller & Accountant General Oversees the Accounting and Financial Operations of the Government. Some of the key functions of the CAG office include but not limited to the following:
Ensures the processing of payments for various spending entities of government;
- Ensures the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements of the Consolidated Account in keep with the PFM Act 2009 and its accompanied regulations;
- Provide periodic training/technical support to Comptrollers, Financial Officers and Accounts across government spending entities in the preparation of their financial statements to ensure that they are IPSAS compliant;
- Ensures the monthly payment of Civil Servants salary working with the Civil Service Agency;
- Ensures the physical verification of GoL financed projects before payment are effected making sure that there is value for money;
- To ensure that the above mentioned task along with others are fully executed, the Comptroller and Accountant General is ably assisted by Core of Directors, Assistant Directors, Supervisors and a host of trained technicians
